Dusting away the cobwebs...

Hello bloggers/ autumn/ almost winter... I could go on!

Now I do realise that the poor little misses three blog has got a bit dusty with a few months of neglect but it was all in a good cause! Many exciting things have been happening since we last posted!

Firstly...
I have moved up to London with a brand new and spanking nursing job- hence I have had to be buried back in the books for a small period

And... More excitingly...

The oldest little miss and myself were asked if we would like to be involved in a handmade craft fair! Without hesitation we got busy and relished the fact we could surround ourselves in all out delicious wool/ fabrics!!

Here's just a sneak peek but once we have got our patterns sorted we'll be blogging away so stay posted!!

We're also working on Christmas goodies which is ridiculously exciting- especially being a Christmas junkie myself!!

Happy crafting

Spring times, the best time...

Hello hello!!

So excited that spring is finally here!!!-haven't we all waited long enough?! Makes me want to quit work and just be an 'outdoors' person!- of course pimms to be mostly I involved! I've been upto a few exciting things since my last blog...:

1. I got myself a new job in London (yippee big move on its way, full of nerves, excitement... Oh and having to remember to buy milk for myself!)

2. Janette (the original Miss Greenwood) and myself got a little bit crafty with her class full of children with a secret project in mind. This mainly involved us having a vast amount of fun (definitely me) with 5 year olds... Pictures to follow but it's not all finished yet- hope you can guess what it'll be!!

3. And finally, creating a humungus todo list full of everything that I can think of to make for my soon to be new (shoebox) room: a quilt, cushion covers, anything with lavender in, maybe bunting... Ahh the list goes on and is so exciting!!!

So just thought I'd write a small post to share in my excitement!! And will be getting serious on getting my head down and my hook a hooking!!!

Love

Oh yes and I finished the bunting for Janette's spare room and it looks delicious!!!!

Growing obsessions and General Prettifying...

This weekend I once again travelled to the great Richmond city to stay with Janette! We had a vast amount of things planned, as we always do!!... On this particular weekend we planned another visit to the 'Knit and Stitch Show' dreaming of exotic wool, assorted buttons and new ventures we would come across. Unfortunately, Janette became a little under the weather and so we missed this to make her all better- I will here apologise as my nursing skills were quite unsympathetic owing to it being my day off... I did however muster up the energy for a few hot water bottles and some honey tea.

I instead used this time to immerse myself in well earned crochet patterns/ tutorials, bright wool that Janette had bought and grand ideas of how I could decorate her spare room (which I have now for all purposes made my own!!).

Now I am well aware of my obsessive nature and crochet has gradually shot up to one of my all time favourites. This week I have returned to the blog 'Bunny Mummy' (see the link in the last blog post) and I fell in love all over again with her simple tutorials and beautiful bright designs that fitted perfectly with my prettifying needs!! - Check out the links so you can also celebrate her genius!

So this is where the weekend lead me, with hanging hearts and the start of some crochet bunting... I even learnt how to block!!!

Many people I'm sure would agree that this in itself was a recipe for a cosy, lush weekend but I was spoilt even more and the Little Misses Three joined forces to go visit Harry Potter at the Warner Bros. Studio Tour. This topped off everything and I regressed to being as excited and enthusiastic as a five year old, once again Janette and Kirsty were forced to indulge this.

So all in all one amazing long weekend and so I wish that you are all inspired to get hooking especially now that spring has finally popped in and looks as though it could be persuaded to stick around!!!

Happy Feet!

Don't you just love Bank Holiday Weekends/ Easter Holidays (for all you teachers out there!)??!!  I travelled to Stratford Upon Avon to spend a lovely weekend with the family.  Fiona and I took the opportunity to sit on my bed and get some much needed crocket time in - we even managed to get Kirsty (the youngest Little Miss) involved!  I think she may have caught the hooky bug!  You can also see the progress of my Neat Ripple Blanket on my lap too!

We enjoyed a fabulous Easter Egg Hunt with the little girls from next door - the Easter Bunny (Dad!) doing his famous trick of stealing the eggs we've found and then re-hiding them!  And as usual, then can't remember where he hid the last few - there's always one or two that appear sometime in June!

After the most AMAZING Easter lunch, we set off back upstairs to complete our little project!  Myself and Fiona are avid followers of the Attic24 blog and we were inspired by this post and the cutest owls we have ever seen.  Lucy had originally found the pattern from another deliciously inspiring blog Bunny Mummy.

This was our effort after several hours of crocheting...

We followed the beautiful, photi-laden tutorial and didn't they turn out beautifully?!
We did add two cute liitle feet to them - it helped them stand up a bit better.

I will post the pattern for the feet later on today - when I can find where I wrote it down!

Crochet, Coffee and Cath...

...and breathe... What a busy couple of days it has been!  Fiona has been to London and we have been grafting at crafting!  We have been sourcing supplies and shopping 'til we dropped (with a few little treats along the way!)

We have always wanted to have our own shop and sell our little projects so this weekend was spent in shops and markets surrounded by delicious, rainbow-filled rooms and stalls of wool, sequins, crochet hooks and chintz!

Our first stop was Shepherds Bush Market/ Goldhawk Road to find fabric - as you can see we desperately needed a caffeine fix to get us through the delving and deliberation.

The rest of the day was spent creating the pattern and prototype for a Christmas stocking which we are hoping to perfect and then eventually sell on our Etsy shop. (we'll keep you posted on this...)

Today was spent visiting some AMAZING wool shops.  We visited Jane's Wool Shop in Hampton and the lovely Mrs Moon in St. Margarets.  Both stores were super helpful in choosing the right wool for our projects and we left with armfuls of the stuff from both shops!

Followed by a quick trip to Ealing to grab a new tankini for Fi as she is off to Egypt in two weeks (jealous, much??) and then an awesome, tasty and expensive hour in Chiswick High Street.  We just had to dive into Baskin Robbins for a scoop or two - I can highly recommend the Mississippi Mud and Rainbow Sherbert flavours!!

Save the best 'til last - Cath Kidston.  Fiona is ever so slightly obsessed with Cath and her flowers, polka dots and cowboys so we spent at least 20 minutes oohing and arrhing over laundry bags, purses, fabrics, aprons and all the other lovely vintage inspired products on the shelves.  In the end, we left with just one or two bits and bobs...

And finally, at the end of a long, tiring and enjoyable day, we got to go home and look at all the amazing things we now own...because, after all, it is the best part of a shopping day, isn't it?!

See you soon, I'm off to do at least 10 more rows on  my neat ripple blanket - I'll have a couple of photos to show you on my next post...

Pinch, punch...first of the month!

Hello!!

Hope everyone is nicely geared up for the weekend- I'm sure it's well deserved for all! I am writing this before escaping off to bed for my shifts this weekend (a slight shock it will be having been on annual leave). Since my last post I have been busy lovingly practicing my granny squares, which I have found to be addictive- cant say I wasn't warned by the multiple blogs I had the pleasure to read!!

I was able to go to a local craft store and choose some wool just to kick start it and felt myself rather skilled once I was able to chop and change between my colours, I looked like the Cheshire Cat after just one!! I intend to try and find as many different patterns as everyone proves a new learning curve that I am loving!!

Janette and myself have been on the planning of all our future projects/ sewing adventures and the top of our list is our excitement at the tickets arriving for the 'Spring Knitting and Stitching Show' that is occurring in Earls Court, London, in March. We are dreaming of quilts, all things knitted and luscious exhibitions that we can dive into!!! All details to get involved below!!

http://www.twistedthread.com/pages/exhibitions/viewExhibition.aspx?id=41

We have also been getting the littlest miss motivated to get creating with a little surprise we're hoping she'll be showcasing soon (cannot wait!!)

Below are just two of the patterns I've been trying to perfect and I'm now hunting for the next!

They include: on left, Sunburst Granny Square by Prescilla Hewitt http://web.archive.org/web/20020308144141/http://members.aol.com/lffunt/sunburstgs.htm
And the Summer Garden Granny Square by Lucy, Attic24
http://attic24.typepad.com/weblog/summer-garden-granny-square.html

I do feel I need to get some more colour injected and so will be shop shop shopping soon!! Again any patterns/ colour suggestions let me know!

Happy crafting

Craft-i-liscious

Hope everyone has had a great weekend! I have been endeavouring to master the art of crochet (as you can see Janette has mastered it quite well, but she is teaching me well!)... I was so excited to actually make something, my own little granny square!!!- definitely have the 'I want to stare at it all the time' feeling....don't you just love that!?!

Luckily I've been staying at Janette's and so have been able to bounce all of my problems to her... I always like someone to talk to over YouTube (however YouTube has got some amazing helpful videos!). I'm thinking that one granny square is just not enough and so I shall be practising and hopefully ending up with a blanket, please feel free to supply any good pattern links I should try out!! Here is the link that I used and it had great step by step tutorials:

On another crafty tone, this weekend I decided to take one of Janette's ideas of a great 3D picture, using a heart stamp and luscious card I got to choose on our outing today. Janette had a bluesy, tan tone where as I went for neutrals... May need to get me a white frame to pick out the colours a bit better.

Anyway I shall be off dreaming of the wool I will soon be purchasing to continue my squares!

Happy crafting!!

My First Project - Attic24 inspiration!

So today I have taken on my first project... And as is typical with me, it's ambitious.

Since Christmas, when Fiona introduced me to the AMAZING Attic24 blog, I have been obsessed with making a Neat Ripple Blanket. You can find the pattern and gorgeous pictures here...

http://attic24.typepad.com/

So I have decided to have a go at creating my own version. I love the bright, fun colours that Lucy from Attic24 uses but it wouldn't go with my stuff!! And I have a recent obsession with grey...

So I'm starting tonight and we'll see how long it takes me...

Wish me luck!

New Year, New Blog...

Following copious amounts of alcohol on New Year's Eve and a love of all things homemade, an idea to create a blog allowing us to share this interest with people alike came about...and so was born 'Little Misses Three'.

We are three sisters, that have a love of making and learning new things in common- be it sewing, knitting or cooking, although we have very different careers. The eldest Little Miss, Janette, is a primary school teacher whose classroom is always filled with colours and fun activities, sometimes influenced by our current projects. Then there is me, Fiona, I'm a nurse who enjoys creating on my days off, which is usually fuelled by something Janette has found on our beloved Pinterest!! The littlest Little Miss is Kirsty, who works in retail currently having recently finished university- she makes pretty amazing cakes!

Today, in between setting up the blog and now writing this post, Janette and myself went to watch her boyfriend, B, play rugby, Kirsty is currently working so wasn't able to join us this time but will be joining in through our posts!! Below is a picture of Janette and me at the rugby looking very happy, despite the cold and sadly a loss on our teams part...

Looking forward to the journey and hope you'll be sharing it us with us!
